Restaurant hibachi: $22–$30 per person
At home: $7–$8 per person

Same flavor.
Leftovers for lunch.
No tipping.
Eaten at home.

Cooking more at home also means more food scraps — and that’s where @GetLomi has honestly been a game-changer for our family. It’s compact, doesn’t smell, and I love that I can start it from my phone even when I’m not home (my husband is especially excited about fewer trash runs). Turning everyday scraps into nutrient-rich plant food just feels like a smarter way to live.

If you’ve been wanting to cut down on waste without adding extra work, this is one of those things that actually makes it easier.

I get a lot of questions about how I keep family d I get a lot of questions about how I keep family dinners between $10–$20, so here’s what actually makes it possible.

The biggest shift: stop buying small containers of things you use all the time. You’re almost always paying more for less. Bulk doesn’t work for everything—but for staples, it really does.

I buy a huge container of soy sauce for $6.99 and refill a smaller glass bottle I’ve had for years.

Vinegar is another one—I use it constantly for cooking and washing produce, and six bottles cost me about $6.69.

Once a year, I buy a 20-lb bag of basmati rice for under $21. That’s roughly 45–50 cups of rice, coming out to under $0.70 per meal. Way cheaper than small bags that only last a few dinners.

Same goes for spices like paprika—I use a lot, so bulk makes sense.

This thin-cut steak isn’t the cheapest at $12.99/lb, but it’s pre-sliced, great quality, and saves a ton of prep time—worth it on busy nights.

I didn’t need ground beef this trip because I still have several dinners’ worth in the freezer. I usually stock up every few months, and it’s nearly half the price of my other grocery store.

Onions last forever when stored in a cool, dry place (Michigan winters help). We use them constantly, so a $4.99 bag is a no-brainer.

And if we’re not having rice, we’re usually having potatoes—diced, roasted, or air-fried. Affordable, versatile, and always a win for my family. Again, cheaper to buy in bulk.

If feeding your family on a real budget matters to you, save this—and tell me one staple you buy in bulk. I would love to hear your tips too!!!!

I still remember being in middle school and dealin I still remember being in middle school and dealing with a girl who was relentlessly mean to me.
She commented on my legs, my clothes, how pale I was, tried to isolate me from friends, and one day she even spit on me.

I had a close relationship with my mom, and I told her everything.
What she said next stayed with me forever.

She told me, “This doesn’t excuse her behavior, but it may explain it. She isn’t given unconditional love at home, and sadly many of us parents are aware. Her parents provide the “things” like shelter, activities, money, but not emotional safety and the feeling of unconditional love. She’s jealous of the love you receive, and she’s trying to pass her pain on to you. It’s a way for her to not feel so alone in her sadness.”

Looking back now, I understand it more clearly.
Human society has a way of repeating itself, even generations later. Different people, same story. Kind people don’t say unkind things.
People who feel loved don’t try to make others feel small.

It’s human, especially for teens and women, to want to please everyone. When someone is mean to us, our brain says, “Maybe I did something wrong.”

So we try to change ourselves, hoping that kindness will earn kindness back.

A research study found that people who experience rejection or emotional neglect are more likely to engage in aggressive or hurtful behavior toward others as a coping mechanism, not because of the target, but because of unresolved pain and lack of feeling loved.

Here’s the truth:
No matter how kind you are, how you dress, how you speak, or how much of yourself you give, someone will still be nasty.

And that’s because it’s never been a you problem.

It’s a THEM problem.

When someone is mean to you, their behavior reflects how they’re treated and how they feel about themselves.

Pray they find the love they’re missing, but don’t shrink yourself waiting for it. Kindly walk away from their poison.
